A distraught mother has delivered a heartbreaking farewell to her beloved three-month-old daughter – as her own boyfriend faced a murder charge over the infant’s death.
Sarah Nash’s daughter Elyssia was found with what police described as ‘catastrophic brain injuries’ at her family home in Girrawheen, Perth, on March 12.
Two days later the baby died, with Ms Nash’s boyfriend Zach Meier now charged with her murder.
‘To my beautiful bubba girl, Ely… I love you always and forever,’ Ms Nash said.

Ms Nash said it was impossible to describe ‘the heartbreak I am going through’ and the loss of her always-smiling baby.
‘[She had] a melt-your-heart smile. She was very curious, always looking around at everyone. And she was a little ginge like her mum,’ Ms Nash said.
Meanwhile the final hours of baby Elyssia’s life are being pieced together as Ms Nash tries to come to terms with the death of her beloved baby.
It was revealed that March 12 – the day Elyssia was rushed to hospital – was both Ms Nash and Meier’s birthday. Both are 30 years old.

Ms Nash claimed her boyfriend ran to her neighbour – who is a nurse – to get CPR on the infant.
The young mum returned home to an empty house, then learned her baby was ‘unresponsive’ when treated by emergency workers, who took baby Elyssia in an ambulance.
‘Zach is the only one who knows what happened. He was the only one there,’ Ms Nash said.
Meier was initially charged with grievous bodily harm, which was upgraded to homicide, in the Perth Magistrates Court.
He appeared in Perth Magistrate’s Court via video from Hakea Prison and was remanded in custody until April 28.

Earlier, the baby girl’s father Robert Ahrens posted a eulogy on his Facebook mourning the loss of his daughter.
‘My baby girl Elyssia (Ely) taken from us way too early at only three months old,’ Mr Ahrens wrote four days after her passing.
Friends of Elyssia’s grieving parents rallied around the family, with one creating a GoFundMe to help pay for funeral costs for the toddler.
‘Please help in raising funds to help Sarah and Rob give their princess the farewell she rightly deserves. Tonight a beautiful precious angel gets her wings….fly high princess Elyssia, we will miss you so much,’ fundraiser Kel Duffield wrote.
